Alastair offers over 15 years’ experience in rail planning with expertise including train planning, strategic planning and making the case for rail investment schemes.
In his early career Alastair spent three years working in different train planning roles. Since joining Steer in 2014 he has complemented these skills with experience in wider strategic and business case planning disciplines including operating cost analysis, demand modelling, and valuation of economic benefits. This has included working with the UK Department for Transport (DfT) to make the case for the high-profile rail enhancements in the North of England.
Alastair takes a leading role coordinating the rail team based in our Leeds and Manchester offices, as well as delivering rail projects for DfT and regional and local authorities across the North of England.
